Connecting Peri-Urban communities
•A large proportion of our community lives in a peri-urban setting in the Moorabool, Woady-Yaloak and Leigh catchments, for life-style, income and quality of life.
•They need skills and knowledge manage their land and water.
•We plan to work with Natures Stewards to develop programs that help our periurban community to conserve biodiversity
Phascogale
Creating connections for warm and furry friends.
Like most marsupials in our landscape, Phascogales have experienced an enormous range contraction: They occupy only 30% of their former habitat, and those populations are disconnected.
We have started work on creating corridors for these and other linkage-dependent creatures. See Newsletter 2 for details.
Nursing the nurseries
The Bunanyung Landscape is going to need plants……lots of them! We want to make sure that the local suppliers can provide a good diversity of appropriate genetic stock for the planting that has to occur to restore our corridors and connections. We have started to document the local resources: watch this space for more information!
